MILLETS & CONDIMENTS

MILLETS & CONDIMENTS

Why risk the side effects of a crash diet, that prevents you from eating all the things you love, when you have a healthier alternative in your shelves? Believe it or not, the “poor man’s food grain” is exactly what you require to combat the effects of your hectic life needs! So, what is this food grain? Well, millets, of course!

Given this label because of their affordability, millets are highly resistant to extreme weather conditions, and do not require any additional fertilizers to promote their growth.
Besides this, millets are also an important part of sustainable diet plans and healthcare regimen because of their innumerable health benefits. From being gluten-free, making it perfect for weight loss regimen, to having low glycaemic acid, possibly helping in the prevention of diabetes, millets have a range of health benefits. This makes it the perfect replacement of carbohydrate high grains like wheat and rice, which break down easily, and prompt people to consume unhealthy foods to fulfil their untimely hunger.

Fresh from the farms of the communities nestled within the Nilgiris, Aadhimalai brings you millets, the food of our ancestors. Grown widely on these hills, and then slowly replaced by rice and wheat, millets have only recently found its place on our shelves again. Millets from Aadhimalai are harvested by the farmers of the Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve, from their landholdings, and processed in the production units by the women of these indigenous communities, to bring you completely organic, healthy millets to improve your dietary habits.

Depending on the product, the dried ragi is either kept whole or ground into fine flour using cold milling methods that retain its natural nutrients.
