The Indian gooseberry, traditionally referred to as Amla or Nellikai is the berry of the flowering tree bearing the same name. It is usually sour to taste, with slight undertones of a sweet aftertaste. Known for its rich antioxidant properties, and used widely in Indian traditional medicine, Nelli has multiple uses and health benefits.
The indigenous farmers of the Nilgiris collect these berries from the forests. These are then separated from their seeds, and mixed with non-sulphate sugar, and ready for sun-drying. The process of sun-drying not only increases the shelf-life of the gooseberry, but also allows for the retention of all the medicinal properties of the berry. The completely organic dry amla is packaged as candy at Aadhimalai processing units by the women of the various villages and made available for buying.
Amla Candy
The amlas used in our candy are freshly handpicked by tribal communities in the lush Nilgiris hills. Once harvested, they are carefully washed to remove all dust and impurities. The berries are then gently boiled until soft, bringing out their natural tang. These softened pieces are soaked in sugar syrup, allowing the sweetness to seep in slowly. Finally, they are dried until they turn slightly chewy striking the perfect balance between tart and sweet, with all the goodness of nature packed into every bite.

Nutmeg Candy
Nutmegs are carefully sourced from tribal communities in the Nilgiris, where they are grown in the shade of forest trees. Once harvested, the nutmegs are cracked open to reveal the aromatic kernels inside. These are finely sliced and gently simmered to soften their strong flavor. The slices are then soaked in rich sugar syrup, allowing the bold, earthy notes of nutmeg to blend with delicate sweetness. After soaking, they are slowly dried until they reach a chewy texture — resulting in a candy that’s both warming and naturally spiced, perfect for mindful snacking.

Nelli Mouth Freshner

Salted Amla Mouth Freshener is made from fresh, hand-picked nelli (amla), which is washed and cut into small pieces. These pieces are coated with natural salt or rock salt, sometimes mixed with spices like cumin or black salt for added taste. The salted amla is then sun-dried or shade-dried until it becomes slightly chewy. This natural drying process preserves it without any artificial additives. It is finally packed in airtight containers to keep it fresh. The result is a healthy, tangy mouth freshener that aids digestion and boosts immunity.

Unsalted Amla Mouth Freshener is made using freshly picked nelli (amla) that is washed clean and cut into small pieces. These pieces are dried directly—either under the sun or in shade—without adding any salt or spices. The drying process naturally reduces the sourness and makes the pieces chewy. This method helps retain the amla’s original taste and nutrients. Once dried, they are stored in airtight containers. It serves as a pure, natural mouth freshener rich in Vitamin C and good for digestion.
